Passivation for Stainless Steel
A treatment to improve the surface condition of stainless steel
Iron embedded in the surface of stainless steel as a result of forming, machining, or other manufacturing can corrode and give the appearance of large or small rust spots.
Passivation forms a chemically inactive surface on stainless steel so that when it is exposed to air or other oxygen-containing environments, no rust spots appear.
