VAL-KRO Electroless Nickel Coatings
Our highly diverse Val-Nik family of Electroless Nickel (EN) coatings is appropriate for any number of applications. We have rack, barrel, and wire plating capabilities and offer both low- and high-volume production runs. All of our coatings can plate over the following substrates:
- Carbon Steels
- Stainless Steels
- Alloy Steels
- Aluminum
- Tool Steels
- Copper Alloys
En Types
Val-Nik 30 (Low Phos. 1 - 4%)
For excellent wear, petroleum, and alkaline resistance
Qualities: Val-Nik 30 has a low phosphorous (2 - 4%) deposit with a deposit hardness of Rc 60-64 that gives a uniform coating with enhanced adhesion qualities and impact strength. When wear resistance is key.
Val-Nik 60 (Mid Phos. 5 - 9%)
For excellent wear, atmospheric corrosion, and petroleum resistance
Qualities: As deposited, this coating provides a hardness of Rc 56-58 but can be heat-treated to Rc 64. A mid-phosphorous (5 - 9%) deposit results in a bright uniform coating that is tensile stressed and offers excellent atmospheric corrosion and petroleum resistance.
Val-Nik 100 (High Phos. 10 - 12%)
For outstanding corrosion resistance
Qualities: Val-Nik 100 is compressively stressed with a deposit hardness of Rc 48-52 and can be heat-treated to Rc 58. Non-magnetic and ductile, it has a melting point of 1630° F.
Val-Nik 121 (Co-deposit Teflon 15 - 25%)
For metal parts needing a dry film lubricant, to be hydrophobic, or that are experiencing "stick-slip" problems. Ideal for applications involving minimum loads at maximum speeds.
Qualities: A "composite" coating of Electroless Nickel and Teflon® that provides a low coefficient of friction. The Teflon® particles are 0.4 microns in nominal size and are dispersed throughout the coating (15 - 25% by volume). This composite is hard, uniform, and is functional at temperatures up to 620° F.
Val-Nik Black
The great physical properties of Electroless Nickel but in BLACK!
Qualities: A black nickel coating that is also conductive.
Val-Nik Duplex
Any combination of the above coatings.
All of Val-Kro's Electroless Nickel processes are ELV and RoHS compliant.
